Salero Tapas & Bodega – Kempinski Hotel, Mall of Emirates
I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised with this place. It has amazing reviews but I never actually liked the feel of the Kempinski at Mall of Emirates. Nothing against the hotel but it was just the idea of ‘eating at the mall’ which ruined the entire impression for me.
Saying that, the Hotel has revamped itself (it’s not so ‘open’ anymore to the mall) and with it comes the opening of this amazing little find.
The tapas are a modern twist on the traditional spanish cuisine, and although I didn’t drink that night but there were couples at the bar enjoying jugs of Sangria which looked amazing. The atmosphere the bar creates by sitting in the middle of the cosy restaurant giving the whole ‘Bodega’ (Wine Cellar) feeling.
Here are some tips which they don’t heavily advertise.
1) Happy Hour, two for one – Every Day 5-7pm & 11-12pm
This is two for one on everything – Tapas and drinks! I love the idea of the timing 11-12midnight – grab a big group together to drink and snack before a night out on the weekend.
2) Entertainment:
Flamenco Dancer every Wednesday and DJ every night with the latin sort of vibe (least it brings an authentic atmosphere)
3) Competitors:
Compared to Toro Toro it isn’t as ‘chic’, but its literally a third of the price with just the best even better quality then its competitors. You can see them prepare dishes at the round kitchen.
It’s quite small and we had left on a Tuesday at 8:30pm with every single table booked – so reserve to not miss out.
Price without happy hour: Approx 40 – 60AED per tapas. Check out their menu online.
