Be Transported to Nola at Dubai’s only Cajun Restaurant.
I’ve been watching the new Novotel Hotel in Al Barsha be built for the last few years on Sheik Zayed Road. After it opened, I had heard good things about the Cravin’ Cajun restaurant I had to check it out.
My sister had lived in Louisiana for some time and had introduced me to the New Orleans food before, so when I heard the head chef is actually from New Orleans and brings in his traditional recipes I was even more excited to give it a try.
I ordered the Lamb Ribs (not a lot of carb free options :p). Jack ordered the Spicy Chicken Jambalaya and we shared Jumbo Prawns and Crab Cake for entrée.
Value for money – The portions are huge and tasty. Considering the size of meals you could easily share starters with some drinks or share main with friends.
Staff – know the menu inside out and great at advising recommendations.
Highlight: The best part of the evening was the Jazz band – they play 6 nights a week and were absolutely fantastic. When they play it instantly transfers you to Nola – plus it’s so nice for a change to listen to a different live music genre here in Dubai – it’s a restaurant you can take your workmates too, friends, date or visitors.
The bill for us two came to 350AED with alcoholic drinks, two starters and two mains.
Funfilsdays recommendation:
For an affordable night out, I would return next time to listen to the band and order some entrees and drinks – the entrees are big enough to have on your own as a dinner meal (approx 50AED).
Walk from the metro if you are visiting Thursday evenings – the traffic around that area is crazy with people trying to escape salik.
For the girls: Head to Bubble Bar for FREE pre-drinks (Apple Martinis & Rose) from 8pm on Thursday and Friday before booking your dinner at Cravin’ Cajun.
